Annual Pasta Night Fundraiser will also Include Ice Cream
The Channahon Music Boosters have planned a night chock full of activities.

The goal this year is to raise enough money for new uniforms for the band and new risers for the choir.
With that in mind, Channahon Music Boosters will host its second-annual Italian Pasta Night March 16. The event will take place at from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
“Last year, our profit was over $4,000,” Carrie Cappecci, organizer for the pasta night said. “We were able to purchase a timpani set for the band.”

The music boosters is fairly new and getting more involved in promoting the music departments. It’s trying to make the pasta night fundraiser an annual event in hopes to avoid multiple fundraisers throughout the year, Cappeci said.
More than 500 people attended last year and were served baked mostaccioli, salad, bread and butter, coffee, orangeade, lemonade and water. The menu will remain the same, however at this year’s event, the Boosters will be offering an ice cream sundae bar for dessert.

Tickets cost $8 for an adult; $6 for students and seniors; and children under 3 are free. Tickets can be bought at the door or in advance by contacting Kellie Mason at 815-467-1742.
Guests can also choose to participate in the raffle. Tickets are fifty cents per ticket. Participants can put as many tickets as they wish in the basket to win the prize of their choice.
Cappeci added that an activity center with crayons and word searches will be set-up for younger children, so parents can mingle.
Entertainment, though, is not limited to the youngest attendees.
Band Director Kevin Becker will lead the junior high band as they perform their musical selections they have prepared for band contest competition on Saturday, March 12 at Manhattan Junior High School. He will also be directing the jazz band and a special performance by the 5th grade band.
Anita Freehauf, director of Channahon Choirs will lead 5th through 8th grade singers in melodic tunes, including selections from the hit television show Glee.
The Minooka Community High School Jazz Band and Choral Ensembles will also be performing popular musical selections for the community’s enjoyment.
“This is great for the community to see what’s offered, the talent in the community and how we promote musical talent and interest,” Cappecci said. “It’s a great opportunity for the younger kids to see that high school students have continued their musical career and that they can do the same.”
