Balance Leads Eagles to Win

Families of Faith Christian Academy Screaming Eagle boys took the short trip up I-55 to Romeoville Christian last night and came away with a solid 57-37 win.

With their new offense starting to find its way, the Eagles demonstrated great patience, some phenomenal passing at times and the scoring balance they thought they had when the season started.

The Eagles started fast. Brandon Cline poured in 5 points to pace the Eagles to a first quarter lead 12-6. The Eagles picked up the scoring in the second quarter powered by 6 points each from Josiah and Cody Blan, staking the Eagles to a 28-18 halftime lead.

The Eagles pulled away in the second half as Dorantes put in 10 of his 14, 7 of them in the fourth quarter.

Josiah Blan led the way with a season low 16 points, but he didn't need to score more. Vincent Dorantes scored 14 points, Brandon Cline added 13 and Cody Blan 10 to help the Eagles continue their best start in school history.

Josiah Blan also had 11 rebounds and 4 blocked shots as the Eagles took control early and never looked back.

The night wasn't as pleasant for the Lady Eagles though. The Lady Eagles fell 41-25 to Romeoville on a rough shooting night.

The Eagles shot a season low 18% from the field as many shots rolled around and off the rim, all night long. Destiny Villalejo led the way with 10 points, Alli Willis pulled down 11 boards.

Romeoville jumped out to a 9-2 first quarter lead and never looked back, while the Eagles watched balls roll around, go in and come out of the basket.

Both squads return to action Thursday evening at Families of Faith in Channahon when the Eagles host Westlake Christian from Grayslake.
