Body In Illinois River Was Minooka Man: Police

Jeffrey Farrar, 39, parked on the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Bridge over the Illinois River and left behind a suicide note, police said.

MINOOKA, IL - Minooka Police Chief Justin Meyer confirmed Tuesday that a body found in neighboring LaSalle County was missing Minooka resident Jeffery Farrar, 39. The Minooka Police Department received a missing person's report regarding Farrar on Sunday morning. Several hours later, authorities in LaSalle County found Farrar's car parked along Interstate 39 near the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Bridge over the Illinois River. Inside the car was a suicide note, the Illinois State Police have reported.

Later that day, officers recovered a body the river below the span. Meyer said he has received confirmation from LaSalle County that the dead person was Farrar. At this stage, the case is being handled by the Illinois State Police, and the Minooka Police Department is not involved in the investigation, Meyer told Patch.

The distance from Minooka and where Farrar took his own life near Jonesville is about 50 miles.
