Maddy's Future Bakery

"My bakery will be across from Hunters Crossing Subdivision, by the First Community Bank. You can sign up to work there when I get older."

Hi, I’m going to tell you about my future bakery and some recipes.

When I grow up, I’m going to go to Joliet Junior College and then I will open up my bakery in Channahon. My bakery will be across from Hunters Crossing Subdivision, by the First Community Bank. You can sign up to work there when I get older. LOL!!

The bakery will be called Maddy’s Fantastic Goodies. My goal is to please many customers' tastebuds.

My main speciality is going to be cupcakes. Yellow cupcakes with raspberry filling and marshmallow fudge cupcakes will be the featured cupcakes. But I will make a cupcake in any flavor a customer requests.

The frosting on my cupcakes and cakes will be a recipe similar to a very famous baker of “Hoboken baby.”

Most of my cakes will be covered in fondant.

Fondant is a thick paste made of sugar and water and often flavored or colored, used in the making of candy and the icing and decoration of cakes.

In my bakery, I will have an area where you can discuss with me the cake you want for your wedding day, holiday event or other special occasion.

Other things I will be making are pies, muffins, cheesecakes, brownies, cookies, donuts, bagels and bread.

I will also offer my customers coffee, including cappuccinos, lattes and espressos. Tea, juice, milk, hot cocoa (with or without marshmallows) and apple cider (cold or hot). There will also be a “Drink of the Day.”

Do you have any favorite goodies that you would want me to have in my bakery?

Here is a favorite recipe of mine that I make in the fall. Please try it. You will love it.

Pumpkin Bread

1 1/3 C. sugar

2 beaten eggs

1 2/3 C. flour

1/4 t. baking powder

1 t. cinnamon

1/3 C. shortening

1/4 C. water

1 C. pumpkin

1 t. baking soda

1/4 t. salt

Cream sugar, shortening and spices. Add eggs. Mix well. Add the pumpkin. Beat well. Add dry ingredients and water. Mix well. Pour into greased 5x9x3 pan. A bundt or angel food cake pan works well too. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
