Braidwood Burglary Defendants Fail To Make Bail
The young man and young woman have remained in Will County's jail since May 25.

Crimes involving burglaries are often difficult for police to solve because the criminals often work under the cover of darkness. However, the Braidwood Police Department recently foiled one recent residential burglary, a crime that occurred in the 200 block of North English. Documents at the Will County Courthouse indicate 25-year-old Joshua Garrelts of Essex and his 21-year-old alleged accomplice, Chyna Sikic, of Braidwood, were both thrown in the county jail where both face a serious crime, residential burglary, a Class 1 felony.
The complaint states that "said defendants knowingly and without authority entered into the dwelling of another (man) ... with the intent to commit therein a theft."
Court records show that Garrelts is being held in Will County Jail on a $100,000 bail while the young woman from Braidwood, Sikic, remains detained on a $75,000 bail.

As of Tuesday night, both Garrelts and Sikic remain lodged in the county jail. They haven't been able to come up with the necessary 10 percent to post bond.
Court records show that Garrelts, formerly of Braidwood, was arrested by the Will County Sheriff's Department and charged with felony burglary in 2013 but several months later, after a number of pretrial delays, his criminal case was dismissed.
