Channahon Police Chief Jeff Wold To Retire

Wold announced he is leaving Channahon's Police Department effective December 1.

CHANNAHON, IL - One of Channahon's top village officials, Police Chief Jeff Wold, announced on Friday night that he is retiring effective Dec. 1. Wold served as Channahon's police chief since 2011. He has been in the department more than 20 years, previously working in criminal investigations and patrol.

"Even though things are good, for a variety of reasons, I feel in my heart and mind, this is the right time to turn over the department to our next chief," Wold announced on the Channahon Police Department's Facebook page. "This was the hardest career decision I have ever made. Those of you that have retired or contemplated retirement know what I am trying to express."

Wold noted that he was honored to serve the past six years as Channahon's chief of police, pointing out that Channahon is fortunate to have an extremely low crime rate.

"Thank you to Mayor Missey Schumacher and the Channahon Village Board for allowing me to do so," Wold said.

He also thanked residents of Channahon for their efforts to work with the police department to fight crime and prevent criminal activity. "Because of your efforts, Channahon is one of the safest communities in the United States," he said.

"I am not sure what is next for me, but I hope in some way I am a part of Channahon's growth and success."

If Channahon wants to hire Wold's replacement from within the police department, the two most logical internal candidates are deputy police chiefs Adam Bogart and Shane Casey.
