Channahon Resident Displaced After House Fire
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

CHANNAHON, IL — A Channahon resident was displaced from their home after a fire broke out in a garage.
According to a news release from Channahon Fire Protection District Fire Chief John Petrakis, firefighters were dispatched to a home in the 24000 block of S. Cardinal Road at 10:03 May 10 for a report of smoke coming from a garage.

Upon arrival, crews found smoke visible from a single-story ranch-type home, Petrakis said. A fire was then revealed to be burning in the garage and attic. The fire was under control at 10:23 p.m.
One person was home at the time and was alerted to the fire by a smoke detector. The occupant was able to stay with a family member.

Although the fire originated in the garage, the exact cause is still under investigation and an estimated dollar loss not available. Crews remained on scene until 12:37 a.m.
Agencies from Minooka, Troy, Elwood, Wilmington, Morris, Plainfield and Lockport assisted at the scene of the fire. Agencies providing area coverage included Braidwood and Homer Fire Protection Districts.
