Channahon Schools Honor Longtime Employee

Cafeteria worker retires after 33 years.

Channahon school board members honored Ruth Ann Daniels, a district cafeteria worker who retired this year after 33 years of service.

Superintendent Dr. Karin Evans called Daniels "a tremendous asset" to the district. Daniels and her husband, John, were in attendance at the Monday night board meeting.

Daniels told the board how she wanted to get a job when her kids were young. Her husband said she could do whatever she wanted, as long as she was home when the kids were home from school. So she figured a job in the school district was the best option.

Daniels said one of her four grandchildren, a first-grader in the district, asked if she could stay on a little longer.

But it was time to move on.
