Child Porn Defendant Gets $1 Million Bail

JOLIET, IL - A 26-year-old man from Joliet still remains in the Will County Jail after a high bail was set for defendant Joseph "Sloppy Joe" Stofko, who is two charged with two felony counts of child pornography. The defendant, who lives in the 600 block of Mack Street, was booked into the county jail by the Channahon Police Department last Friday evening, May 11. His bail was set by Judge Art Smigielski at $1 million.
So far, Stofko has been unable to come up with 10 percent, which is $100,000, to post bond.
According to this week's criminal complaint at the Will County Courthouse, Stofko possessed a digital video depicting a "fully nude male child, who is apparently under the age of 13, with an adult male manipulating the boy's exposed penis."

The second child porn charge states that Stofko possessed another digital video on a computer hard drive "depicting two fully nude male children, who are apparently under the age of 13, performing oral sex on each other," as well as other sex acts, the criminal complaint states.
Joliet criminal defense lawyer Michael Renzi is now representing Stofko, court files show. Additionally, the judge imposed a number of restrictions on Stofko in the event he makes bail.

The defendant is forbidden from having any contact with children. He cannot operate computer. He cannot access the Internet, court records show.
Judge Smigielski did allow the defendant to have access to one phone card to use at the jail.
