Corner Tap Bar Attack Leads To Felony Charges
The crime of violence was investigated by Wilmington's Police Department.

WILMINGTON, IL - Most people who frequent a small-town bar choose to do so because they like the ambiance, the atmosphere, the music, the friends and fellowship. But every so often, mischief occurs inside a friendly small-town watering hole and that often means the police get involved.
Last month, the Will County State's Attorney's Office filed two felony charges of aggravated battery against 25-year-old Jonathon W. Jones of Wilmington. He's charged in connection with an incident of violence that happened Sept. 22 at the Corner Tap Bar in downtown Wilmington.
The criminal complaint states that Jones "caused great bodily harm" to another man at the bar "in that he struck (the victim) in the head." The second battery charge states that Jones "knowingly made contact of an insulting or provoking nature with (the victim) while (the victim) was on or about a public way, public property ... namely Corner Tap Bar located at 201 North Water Street, Wilmington ... in that he struck (the victim) about his body."
