Drug Overdose Suspected in Minooka Death
A 39-year-old South Carolina man was found unresponsive by his brother.

A South Carolina man was found unresponsive at his brother’s Minooka home late Friday night and later died.
Michael T. Witchek, 39, was given Narcan by responding paramedics and police, but was pronounced dead shortly before midnight in the emergency room at Morris Hospital, according to Grundy County Coroner John Callahan.
Witchek’s brother said there was evidence of drug abuse near his brother’s body when he discovered him unresponsive. Callahan said during an examination there was evidence of markings on the body consistent with drug abuse.

The family of Witchek said he had a drug problem with the use of heroin, but had moved to South Carolina two years ago to be with other family and had been drug-free for just over two years.
The death remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and the Minooka Police Department.
