Eagles Win Seventh in a Row

Entering the season, the Families of Faith Christian Academy Screaming Eagle boys believed this could be a special season.

Along the way they knew they were going to have to do some things they hadn't done, or at least hadn't done in a while.

So far, they've been able to check several of those things off the list, including winning at Victory Christian, winning a regular season game at Grace Christian and last night, another one got checked off the list as the Eagles downed HomeSchool Resource Center on their home floor.

But, it wasn't easy and the final 76-62 score is misleading as to the type of game it actually was.

The Eagles jumped out to a 22-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. Josiah Blan tallied 11 points in the quarter and Cody Blan added 9. But, it was a costly quarter as well. Key defender Brandon Cline who had been tasked with guarding the Patriots best player picked up three fouls and had to come out.

The foul troubles continued to mount in the second quarter as Vincent Dorantes and Cody Kern, two more starters, picked up fouls that required them to come out as well. The Patriots rallied to within 3 points of the Eagles at halftime, 37-34.

The Eagle bench held its own in the third quarter and Josiah Blan provided 8 points to power the Eagles to a 49-45 lead after three quarters.

Cline led the charge in the fourth quarter dropping in 10 of his 16 points and the Eagles pulled away for the final score of 76-62.

The win moved the Eagles record to 11-2 overall, 2-0 in the South Shore Christian Conference West Division. The Eagle girls and boys will be in action Tuesday at Families of Faith as they host Southside Baptist from Oak Lawn.
