An Evening of Jazz Comes to Veterans Park on July 1

Looking for a different way to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary? Grab a lawn chair and head to Veterans Park on Tuesday, July 1, for An Evening of Jazz featuring Sam Burns and Friends.

The free concert begins at 6:00 p.m. at Veterans Park in downtown Minooka, next to the Village’s new patriotic mural. Attendees can enjoy an evening of live music, food, and drinks from local businesses Rooted and Iron & Glass while taking in a unique blend of jazz, American classics, and original music.

Burns, a local musician who grew up in the area, will bring a five-piece band featuring guitar, saxophone, bass, drums, and keyboard. The performance will include jazz fusion favorites, fresh takes on beloved American songs, selections from the Great American Songbook, Motown influences, and original compositions from Burns’ upcoming album, Gone Till Dawn, set for release later this summer.

“Nobody else quite does what I do around here,” Burns said during a recent interview. “It’s cool to give back to the community and play the music I like to play for the people I grew up around.”

Whether you're a dedicated jazz fan or simply looking for a relaxing summer evening outdoors, the concert promises a little something for everyone.
