Ex-Con Headed Back To Prison For Killing His Grandma The Day After He Got Out The Last Time
The Joliet man murdered his grandma the day after he finished his last prison sentence in 2012.

The last time Darel Agerton got out of prison he went to live with his 90-year-old grandma in Joliet. Now he’s going back for killing her the day after he got there.
Agerton, 41, pleaded guilty to the murder in March in exchange for a 40 year sentence. The sentence was handed down Friday.
Agerton was just one day out of prison when he killed his grandmother, Veronica Schick, in November 2012. He had just finished up serving 15 months for his fourth driving under the influence conviction. He went from prison to live with his grandmother in her house on Jessie Street.

Agerton told emergency responders he woke from a nap to find his grandmother unresponsive on the floor, the sheriff’s department said at the time. But when questioned by detectives, Agerton changed his story, the department said.
Agerton battered and strangled Schick.
