CHANNAHON, IL — Three felony charges of theft were filed Wednesday at the Will County Courthouse against 39-year-old Minooka resident Marissa Ward in connection with the theft of money from the Dollar General Store in Channahon at 24715 West Eames Street.

Will County Judge Amy Christiansen signed the bench warrant authorizing Ward's arrest. The warrant indicates that Ward shall be released on her own recognizance, but she must have no contact with Dollar General stores whatsoever. Ward resides in the 1400 block of Minooka's Kettleson Drive.

According to Channahon Deputy Police Chief Matt Brooks, the Channahon Police Department was contacted by Dollar General regional management regarding cash deposit shortages identified at the 24715 West Eames location.

Brooks noted that the Dollar General audit teams discovered discrepancies in cash deposits occurring throughout October. An internal investigation by Dollar General determined that the prior store manager, Marissa Ward, intentionally deprived the store of cash by modifying the nightly deposit amounts and or failing to deposit the cash entirely, Brooks noted.

He said that Channahon's Police Department Investigations subsequently reviewed the case and met with the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office. Based on the investigation, probable cause was established to charge Ward with three counts of theft in excess of $500 and less than $10,000.
