Fire Destroys Minooka Home

No injuries were reported in the Thursday morning blaze.

A Minooka home was considered a total loss after a fire broke out around 1 a.m. Thursday, according to a release from the Minooka Fire Protection District.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they found the home at 811 Avalon Way fully engulfed in flames. All the occupants of the house were able to get out safely.

Due to heavy fire and a roof collapse, firefighters did defensive work and did not enter the home. Firefighters spent around 30 minutes bringing the fire under control and around another hour to extinguish the remaining flames. Crews remained on the scene until around 4 a.m.

The home and its contents are considered to be a total loss, according to the release. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
