CHANNAHON, IL - Over the past two weeks, 24-year-old Channahon resident Keith Keagle has been unable to post his $50,000 bail on charges of aggravated domestic battery, two charges of domestic battery and one charge of unlawful restraint. Court documents allege that Keagle threatened to harm the baby of the woman he is accused of trying to strangle during a recent incident of domestic violence.

The criminal complaint indicates Keagle "made physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature" with a woman who is a family or household member "in that he kicked (her) about the body." Keagle "struck (her) about the face" and "he grabbed her about the body and forced her into a residence," court documents state.

The aggravated domestic battery charge indicates Keagle tried to strangle the woman. These events occurred on May 26, noted Craig Gunty, one of Channahon's two deputy chiefs, in the criminal complaint on file at Will County's Courthouse.

The domestic violence victim subsequently filled out an order of protection to keep Keagle out of her life as well as away from her baby. The May 26 episode occurred at the defendant's address in the 24700 block of Channahon's South Tryon Street, court documents show.

"Keith and I started arguing. It got to the point where it got physical. Keith hit me across the face because he got upset because I would not let the baby just sit there and cry. When he hit me I fought back and Keith didn't like that. The fight ended up downstairs since I was trying to get away from Keith," the woman notified the court.

The woman locked herself in a bathroom, but Keagle managed to pick the lock, and from there, the two were struggling over shower curtain pole, court documents indicate.

"And Keith was trying to choke me with the pole. I fought until I was able to get him off me ... there was more pushing and shoving. He threatened against the baby. He said he was going to snap the neck of the baby," the woman wrote in her petition.

The woman also notified the court of two other episodes involving Keagle, one on May 18, and another incident from June 26, 2018 in which "Keith got off work, I was two months pregnant, we were arguing, he punched me, I punched him back, we went back and forth a couple of times, he pulled off my sweater and hurt me where I had a previous injury. I ended up running inside of Cassies (sic) Gas Station. Keith chased me inside. Keith was trying to make go outside. I was able to get away. After I was screaming for help, police came. I talked to the police. The police helped me remove my belonging (sic) from his home."
