Burglar Stole Musical Instrument: Complaint

JOLIET, IL - There are dozens of new criminal cases filed every week at the Will County Courthouse and some are more unusual than others. Take the case of Kevin M. Smith Jr., the 26-year-old Channahon man finds himself charged with a Class 1 felony for residential burglary as well as Class 3 felony theft.

Smith's alleged crime was investigated by the Crest Hill Police Department. The incident took place on May 14 in the 2300 block of Green Street. Smith, the criminal complaint states, "knowingly obtained unauthorized control over property ... being a Warwick guitar and having a total value in excess of $500 and not exceeding $10,000."

A warrant was issued on June 27 for Smith's arrest. So far, he has not been captured.

Court documents indicate that Smith lives at the Bridge Street Apartments in Channahon, 25200 block of West Bridge Street.
