Braidwood Woman Airlifted After I-55 Rollover Near Arsenal Road

WILIMINGTON, IL - The Illinois State Police is investigating a rollover crash that happened around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday along Interstate 55 southbound near Arsenal Road. Only one vehicle was involved and the driver has been airlifted to a local hospital for serious injuries, police said. The victim was a 55-year-old woman from Braidwood, Illinois State Police said.

"Preliminary reports indicate Unit 1 was traveling in the northbound lanes ... when it struck the center median wires. After striking the median wires, unit 1 rolled over and came to a rest in the southbound lanes at this location. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was airlifted to a local area hospital with serious injuries," state police said.

Around 3 p.m., the Illinois State Police issued a follow-up news bulletin indicating the woman suffered serious injuries but was in stable condition.

All lanes along I-55 are now reopened, police said.
