Adam Kimble is a man on a mission. And he’s got less than 46 days, 8 hours and 36 minutes to accomplish it.

The Minooka native is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest crossing of America. The last time the record was set was in 1980.

So, what’s his reasoning for doing this aside from the honor of being the new record holder? According to his website, it’s to “inspire, push the limits and raise awareness.”

“To inspire people all over the world to pursue their passions and trust in the call given to them, accomplishing things they never thought they could do. Anything is possible with faith and hard work,” Kimble wrote on his website.

Kimble is also hoping to raise awareness for impossible to Possible (i2P), which aims to inspire youth to reach beyond their limits, according to its website.

Kimble will set off Feb. 15 from Huntington Beach, California and finish in New York, New York. During that time, he’ll pass through 14 states and cover a distance of 3,020 miles. And he’s hoping to do it in 45 days. That means he’ll travel around 67 miles per day.

But planning for the trip hasn’t been stress free. Kimble told the Chicago Sun-Times that he and his wife Karen, who’s joining him on the trip along with others, aren’t trust fund kids and don’t have more than what they’ve saved.

“For us, it just came down to budgeting. We had two salaries, no children and we were renting an apartment so we didn’t have a mortgage. We sat down, looked at the x’s and o’s, and began to cut back on expenses wherever possible,” Kimble told the Sun-Times.

If you’re interested in donating money for expenses, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up.
