Minooka Students Earn Yearbook Honors

Minooka Community High School 111 "Inside Edition" yearbook receives recognition

Students in yearbook at Minooka Community High School District sorted through 15,000 photos and more than 30,000 names before submitting the final 2009-2010 version to the printer. Their hard work, which equals out to about 25,000 hours of class time, was well worth it. The 2009-2010 yearbook "Inside Edition" is in the top 5 percent of the nation.

"There is one thing you need to make you do with every yearbook and that is to make it exceed the last years book," Larry Larson, Minooka Community High School board president said.

The honor was bestowed upon the students by Walsworth, the book's publisher. Walsworth's top 5 percent are entered into the Gallery of Excellence.

Noemi Gonzalez, class of 2010, returned to the school Tuesday night to accept school board member's recognition.

"I just think that yearbook is really hard with all the students we have to incorporate," she said.

Students in the class use the industry standards for publishing, Dave DiLorenzo, Community Relations Director said. Students use InDesign for the yearbook design.

Yearbook teacher Laura Erion said she too was impressed by the 2009-2010 yearbook.

"This book is the best since I've been here for the past five years," she said. "They're so innovative with their ideas and creative."
