Motorcyclist Dies in Morris Crash with Minivan

He was not wearing a helmet.

MORRIS, IL — A 51-year-old Coal City man died Sunday afternoon after he was involved in a motorcycle crash with a minivan.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Jugtown Rd. and Deerfield Dr. shortly after 2 p.m., according to the Grundy County Coroner’s Office.

Daniel Ruffatto driving a motorcycle northbound on Jugtown approaching the intersection of Deerfield when a van traveling southbound turned east to travel onto Deerfield when the collision occurred. The two collided in the intersection.

Ruffatto, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene just after 3 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
