He replaces former AP Travis Naber and will serve alongside W.B.O. Assistant Principals Jessica Knobbe and Lauren Scanlan and with Principal Kelly Landers.

Kucera earned his Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University and his Master Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida.

Previously, Kucera served as fourth grade teacher at Pleasant Lane Elementary and as a teacher in Sarasota County, Florida.

Kucera said his philosophy is that in order for students to have a clear path toward their academic goals, they must have their social and emotional needs met. He also believes that education takes a whole community, working collaboratively, to provide the framework and stability needed to successfully educate its youth.

Karina Ochoa is Troy’s new Multilingual Coordinator. Ochoa earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Aurora University, her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with Bilingual and ESL endorsement from Concordia University, and a Master Degree in Leadership and Administration from Benedictine University.

Previously, Ochoa served as Bilingual District Assessor for West Aurora School District 129 and fifth grade bilingual and kindergarten bilingual teacher, also in the Aurora district.

Her goals include strengthening and growing Troy’s EL program to meet the needs of the community.
