Cathleen J. Duncan, age 68, late of Plainfield, and formerly of Lyons, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025, at UChicago Medicine Advent Health - Bolingbrook, with her loving family by her side.

Born February 26, 1957, in La Canada, California, she was the daughter of James and Ruth (Gaus) Gilleran, and lived in various communities growing up while her father served in the Military. Graduating from LTHS, Western Springs, her family eventually settled in the Lyons/Brookfield area.
Cathleen was employed in the rental business as a Special Events Coordinator for much of her career.

Bowling fanatic in her younger years and then camping, boating, and spending time on the water was considered time well spent. Cathleen also enjoyed accompanying her husband in the stock car, drag, and boat races. She loved her furry companions and was also an avid reader.
Loved by everyone, she was affectionately known as “Mama D” by family, her children’s friends, and many other acquaintances she made over the years.
Surviving are her children, Jim (Heather Gerdzunas) Duncan, Michelle (Roger Cerny) Miklas; her grandchildren, Ian, Taylor, Jordan, Jazmine, Frank, Alexia, Julia and Vincent; her great-grandchild, Tristan; her brother, Cpt. James Gilleran; and several in-laws, nephews, and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Brian Duncan (November 9, 2022); her parents; two sisters, Victoria and Carol; and one nephew.
Visitation for Cathleen Duncan will be held Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 12:00 Noon until the time of services at 2:30 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be private.
