Secret Service Assisting Minooka Police in Identity Theft Cases

No arrests have been made.

MINOOKA, IL — Minooka Police Chief Daniel Meyer has informed residents that, despite rumors, there has been no arrest in a series of identity thefts and the United States Secret Service is assisting.

“After collecting and organizing the abundance of bank statements that were provided from you, the USSS is now analyzing the data and hopefully can provide our department and you the answers we are looking for in one to two weeks,” Meyer said in a press release.

Police were initially in contact with a law enforcement agency from Missouri who had arrested “a couple of individuals” for card cloning and were in the Bloomington/Normal area June 10-11.

“Those individuals used some type of malware to infect a business point of sale system,” Meyer said. “But the evidence found on them had no links to Minooka.”
