Troy Community School District 30-C schools recently received book donations from the Shorewood Troy Public Library. Troy 30-C Director of Multilingual Services, Karina Ochoa, said the books are now in Troy school libraries, ready for student check-outs.

“They were so gracious to donate two full boxes of bilingual books for our Troy students,” Ochoa said. “Our school district is fortunate to have forged this partnership with the Shorewood Troy Public Library. The library's generous donations come at a time when resources are the most needed for our bilingual and EL students. These books will be beneficial for their ongoing learning. As a school district, our hope is to further augment our collaboration.”

Community Engagement Coordinator at Shorewood Troy Public Library Mara Barbel said the library is in the process of updating its bilingual collection, and due to limited space in its Children’s Department, some of the books were donated to Troy. The books are in excellent condition, she added.

Barbel said the approximately 50 non-fiction and picture books were mostly bilingual. Others were monolingual Spanish, Polish and French.
