DUI, Marijuana Charges In Crash That Killed Shorewood Woman

A 1-year-old infant was in the Shorewood mother's car at the time of the crash.

MINOOKA, IL - A 23-year-old man from Marseilles has been cited on suspicion of driving under the influence along with other traffic violations and drug infractions in connection with a head-on crash that killed a pregnant Shorewood woman early Friday morning. Alexis S. Danley, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene along Ridge Road near Khater Drive, an unincorporated area of Minooka. On Friday afternoon, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office announced that the driver of the truck who struck Danley's vehicle, Jacob R. Kaminski, is facing several offenses in connection with the fatal collision.

Inside Danley's wrecked vehicle, paramedics located a 1-year-old child who was securely fastened to a child safety seat. Police said the child was treated at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center and released to family members.

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene at 12:13 a.m. According to sheriff's investigators, shortly after midnight, Kaminski was driving southbound on Ridge Road when his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck collided with Danley's northbound 2007 Chrysler 300. The collision caused Kaminski's truck to spin out.

Kaminski then struck another vehicle, a 1999 Toyota Camry driven by Rebecca R. Brown, 22, of Oswego, police said. Brown and two of her passengers were all treated by Minooka paramedics at the scene but were not hospitalized, according to the sheriff'soffice.

As for Kaminski, he is being hospitalized at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He has been issued traffic citations for driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured vehicle, failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash and disobeying a no-passing zone. In addition, Kaminski received citations for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis.

Kendall County Sheriff's officials were assisted at the scene by the Minooka Police Department. Sheriff's officials said the fatal crash remains in the early stages of investigation and additional criminal charges may be filed in connection with Danley's death.
