No. 9 Joliet West advanced to the Plainfield South regional championship game, but dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 1 Plainfield South (31-2) Saturday in Plainfield. Trey Martin belted a two-run home run for the Tigers, who finished the season 20-9-1.
No. 2 Minooka was knocked from the state tournament after an 8-3 loss to No. 1 Normal West Thursday in Normal. The Indians posted an 18-16 mark this season.

Marian Catholic’s Julian Childers sent Falvey into the consolation bracket with a 6-2, 6-1 loss. Childers is a Nos. 9-16 seed.
The Southwest Prairie Conference’s No. 1 singles champ rebounded to beat Bo Beniac of Lincoln-Way North 6-1, 6-3 in consolation-bracket play.
He was eliminated in a 6-3, 6-4 loss to Matt Burkhardt of Fremd.
Joliet West sophomore Jack Carney went 2-2 at the state meet and is 4-4 all-time in state matches. He won the Joliet West sectional championship a week prior.
Junior Collin Shea lost two of three matches at the state meet.
