Troy 30-C Students, Staff, Families Run Virtual 5K, Fun Run

More than 200 participated in the first-time event

Troy School District 30-C staff and students and their families spent some time outside in the fresh air recently, running, walking, biking and scootering around town during the district’s first “Troy Will Prevail Virtual 5K and Fun Run.”

Participants took to the run individually or in their family “covid pods” during this time of the coronavirus isolations. They sent photos of themselves and their times to the organizers.

Troy teachers and track coaches Caitlin Dalton and Alex Reames were inspired to organize the event when they realized early on that there would probably not be an official track season at the district this year, due to the social distancing restrictions.

“I am so impressed with the way our Troy community came ‘together’ for the Troy Will Prevail 5k and Fun Run event,” Dalton said. “We had over 200 participants. This time has been challenging for everyone, so we wanted to provide a positive outlet to have fun and prioritize fitness.”

Distances were designed for grade levels.
