Mysterious World of Owls

Location: Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon.
As the moon rises, so do the creatures of the night. The Will County Forest Preserve District advises people to come to Four Rivers to learn about the owls that live in Will County. Learn about their unique adaptations, dissect an owl pellet and hike through the forest preserve after-hours in hopes to hear one of our feathered friends. Please dress for the weather.
This program will begin in an accessible facility followed by a 1.5-mile hike on paved and natural surfaces across uneven terrain.

The library district proclaims, "Join us for our book club in partnership with Iron & Glass Minooka. We will discuss "When the Moon Hits Your Eye," by author John Scalzi."

The Will County Forest Preserve District proclaims, "Warm up with a hot beverage and a fun chat about bald eagles, then take a short hike with a naturalist to hopefully see a few of these spectacular birds. Please dress for the weather. This is an inclusive program, welcoming individuals of all abilities. The hike will be approximately 0.5 miles on paved and natural surfaces across uneven terrain." The 47th Annual Frosty 5 Mile will take place on Saturday, February 7 at Pioneer Path School, 24920 Sage Street in Channahon.
According to the Channahon Park District, runners of all ages are invited to brave the cold. The first 200 runners will receive an official Frosty 5-mile stocking cap and finishers scarf. After the race, stay for pretzels and the awards ceremony. Awards will be given to the overall male and female residents. Additionally, the top three finishers in each age group will receive awards at the event. Registration is available online or in person at any of our facilities until February 2.
Please note that prices will increase if spots are still available after February 2. Day of registration will be offered if space permits. Race fee: $40 After February 2: $50 Check- In: 7:30 a.m.

Little Explorers: Animal Construction Sites

The Will County Forest Preserve District wants parents to bring your children to Four Rivers to learn about different animals who build their homes in nature with a story, a hike, hands-on activities, crafts and free play. Please register yourself along with your child. We encourage experiencing all types of weather, so please dress yourself and your child accordingly. This is an inclusive program, welcoming individuals of all abilities. The outdoor hike and activities may take place on paved and natural surfaces across uneven terrain. Four Rivers is an accessible facility.
Senior Fitness for 55+
According to the village of Minooka website, free exercise class is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. and 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the Village of Minooka Community Room located at 121 E McEvilly Road.
Senior Fitness is provided by Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers. Classes are designed to provide low impact aerobics training for participants 55 and older. Class size is limited. For more information, please contact the Morris Hospital Wellness Manager at (815) 705-7358.
