Wilmington Duo Had Heroin: Complaint
The pair of defendants have remained incarcerated since May 4.

JOLIET, IL - Every month in Will County people are dying from using the dangerous drug of heroin. Several of the heroin deaths continue to occur around Joliet and also the New Lenox area. Police officers and criminal prosecutors remain proactive in trying to stop the spread of heroin around our cities and villages.
Practically every week, new criminal charges are filed against someone suspected of dealing heroin or distributing the illegal drug here in Will County. Two of the most recent charges were filed this week on behalf of the Wilmington Police Department against a pair of co-defendants from Wilmington, Amanda Stefancic, 24, of the 600 block of South Circle Drive and Justin Hannum, 26, of the 300 block of Roland Avenue.
According to their criminal complaint, Hannum and Stefancic "knowingly and unlawfully possessed ... a substance containing heroin" on May 3. The pair are charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

The Wilmington pair were both given a $15,000 bail. However, neither one of them has been able to come up with $1,500 cash, or 10 percent, to post bond.
So far this year, there have been at least 42 overdose deaths in Will County, including at least 27 fatalities involving heroin and fentanyl. One of the 27 occurred in Wilmington, on April 4, a 32-year-old woman, records at the Will County Coroner's Office reveal.
