• Man arrested twice in one day in Charleston for assault, disorderly conduct at a business (wcia.com) — Charleston Police report that a 38-year-old man was arrested twice on Thursday, including once after allegedly frightening an employee at a Lincoln Avenue business and fleeing before officers arrived. He was later detained in Coles County Jail for violating pre-trial release conditions, with police noting his long history of local criminal cases.

• Yorkville's Owen Horeni runs fastest 800 time in state track prelims: Friday Record Newspapers sports roundup (shawlocal.com) — State track fans are converging on Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, where Yorkville’s Owen Horeni posted the fastest Class 3A 800-meter prelim time heading into Saturday’s finals. Several other Kendall County and area athletes advanced in sprints, hurdles, jumps, and throws, all competing this weekend on Charleston’s blue track.
