• Rabid Bat Found in Chicago Ridge (southwestmessengerpress.com) — A bat found near the 10400 block of Ridgeland Avenue in Chicago Ridge has tested positive for rabies, and health officials are urging anyone who may have had contact with bats to call their doctor. Pet owners in Chicago Ridge are reminded to keep animals leashed outdoors, ensure rabies vaccinations are current, and contact a veterinarian immediately if exposure is suspected.
   

• Busy Ramp to Close (southwestmessengerpress.com) — Drivers from Chicago Ridge should prepare for the eastbound 95th Street ramp to southbound Harlem Avenue being closed through early December as part of a major Harlem/95th interchange rebuild. Expect detours via Ridgeland, Southwest Highway, and Harlem, plus delays as crews resurface roads, rehab bridges, and upgrade lighting and signals through the end of 2026.
   

• JCPenney to open a new store to replace its shuttered Ford City location (chicagotribune.com) — As JCPenney relocates from Ford City Mall to a smaller Burbank store, retail experts say some malls are still thriving, including Chicago Ridge Mall in southwest suburban Chicago Ridge. The mall is cited as a successful example of shifting toward restaurants, experiences, and community events, suggesting local shoppers can expect it to remain a busy gathering spot.
