1) Chicago police warn residents after 19 cars vandalized in Rogers Park. Chicago police responded to the 2100 block of West Howard Street at about 1:09 a.m. yesterday and discovered 19 vehicles with broken side mirrors or windows—all were parked on the street. No one is in custody.
2) UChicago Men's soccer chases title as coach Julianne Sitch makes history by leading team to final four. Sitch, a former Red Stars player, is the first woman to coach a men's soccer team to a Final Four with a 1-0 victory over Gustavus Adolphus College on November 20. University of Chicago plays the Stevens Institute of Technology at noon today for a shot at the Division III title game.
3) Chicago TikTok historian eyes home base for neighborhood tour company with city grant. Auburn Gresham native and TikTok historian Shermann "Dilla" Thomas is one of 61 recipients to receive a 2022 Community Development Grant. His company, Chicago Mahogany Tours, will receive $30,000. "What we're going to do is get a storefront, and then we're going to show that there's tourism to be seen in all of our neighborhoods, not just downtown," Thomas said.
4) Temporary casino in River North draws complaints about parking, safety. The city steered Bally's toward using the 110-year-old Medinah Temple for its temporary casino, which will open in June 2023, despite the lack of on-site parking. Residents are concerned the casino will have a major impact on traffic, parking and public safety. The temporary casino will operate in River North until the permanent casino is completed on the Chicago River's North Branch.
5) At more than $500 per ticket, some question this Chicago 'foodie' tour. The "Chicago Foodie Lovers Tour" on FeverUp has created controversy. The four-hour walking tour, priced at $532.50 per ticket, is described as taking customers "to the most iconic and delicious spots in Chicago all in one day." Some have questioned the pricing, timing and food offered on the tour.
