2 Babies Found Dead At Daycare Unexpectedly Born To Worker: Report
The infants were found unresponsive inside a garbage bag in a Northwestern Memorial Hospital daycare bathroom, reports said.

CHICAGO, IL — A spokesperson for the Northwestern Memorial Hospital daycare where two newborn babies were found unresponsive Thursday night said an employee experienced a medical emergency that resulted in the unanticipated delivery of the infants, according to a WGN-TV report.
The two baby girls were discovered just before 7 p.m. inside a bathroom at the Bernice E. Lavin Childhood Education Center located in the 400 block of East Ontario Street in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood. The infants were taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, police said.
In an initial statement, hospital officials said the situation involved a daycare worker at the facility, but the two infants were not part of the daycare.

"No daycare children were involved or impacted by the situation," the Northwestern Medical statement said. "The Chicago Fire and Police Departments were called. We are working with CPD regarding this incident and are unable to comment further at this time."
According to a police report obtained by the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times, the 29-year-old daycare worker “abruptly left class” and co-workers later found her in the bathroom, covered in blood, reports said. They called an ambulance, and the woman was transferred to Northwestern Hospital for treatment, the police report said.

The infants were later discovered by janitorial staff cleaning the bathroom, according to the Sun-Times. Janitors found their bodies in a black garbage bag inside a cabinet, reports said.
The infants' causes of death remain unclear.
In a statement issued on Friday, the daycare said:
"We are heartbroken by the tragic situation that occurred at the Bernice E. Lavin Childhood Education Center when a staff member experienced a medical emergency that resulted in the unanticipated delivery of newborn twin babies. All children and families enrolled at the center are safe and none were involved in the incident.
The statement continued: "We will be providing emotional and mental health support to all members of our center team and families. We ask for support and respect for everyone involved at this time as we grieve together and work to support each other and any ensuing investigation.
