5 Men Charged In Killing Of Chicago Rapper FBG Duck: Feds
Prosecutors said the men, who police say are suspected members of the O-Block street gang, are charged with murder in aid of racketeering.

CHICAGO — A federal racketeering indictment made public Wednesday accuses five members of of a South Side street gang of killing Chicago rapper FBG Duck, federal authorities told reporters.
The five men are said to be the members of the O-Block street gang that shot and killed the rapper, whose real name was Carlton Weekly, on Aug. 4, 2020 in the Gold Coast neighborhood. At the time, police called the shooting in one of the city's busiest areas "brazen."
Charles "C Murda" Liggins, 30; Kenneth "Kenny" Roberson, 28; Tacarlos "Los" Offerd, 30; Christopher "C Thang" Thomas, 22; and Marcus "Muwop" Smart, 22, are all charged with murder in aid of racketeering. The charges, under a RICO indictment, carry a minimum of life in prison.

Chicago Police Supt. David Brown said the department wants to send a strong message to other gang members who may feel they want to retaliate via "street justice," Brown said at a press conference.
All men are also charged with assaulting two additional victims in aid of racketeering as two people with Weekly were also wounded in the shooting.

"If this gives pause to them then we're doing something good," U.S. Attorney John Lausch said at a news conference at the FBI Chicago Field Office.
The news comes after multiple requests from activists and police officers for Brown and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot to crack down on gangs.
Roberson was already in custody at the Cook County Department of Corrections when he was charged in connection with Weekly's killing. Liggins, Offerd, Thomas and Smart were arrested Wednesday and will remain in custody for the time being, prosecutors said.
"We are going after gangs in this city," Brown said throughout the press conference.
FBG Duck was shot to death on Aug. 4, 2020 in the first block of East Oak Street at around 4:37 p.m. According to police, four men in two cars pulled up near the 26-year-old rapper and opened fire.
