5th Person Charged In Mob Attack At Red Line Station

Police said five people have now been taken into custody after they were identified in CTA surveillance videos.

CHICAGO — Another teenager has been taken into custody and charged in connection with a mob attack on three people at a CTA Red Line platform on the Near North Side in late December. A 16-year-old boy has been charged with mob action and aggravated battery, police said.

The 16-year-old was identified by a tipster after a community alert with images of the suspects was released, police said.

The mob attacked two men and a woman. One of the victims suffered "great bodily harm," with fractures, abrasions and lacerations, police said.
