Air Quality Alert Issued for Chicagoland Wednesday
National Weather Service encourages people to stay inside amid rising ozone levels.

CHICAGO, IL - An air quality alert has been issued for Wednesday in Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.
The National Weather Service indicates on its website that the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has determined that "an air pollution action day" will be in effect.
"Widespread ozone and or particulate levels are expected to be at or above the unhealthy for sensitive groups category of the air quality index," the alert reads.

People with pulmonary and respiratory diseases like asthma should limit time outdoors today, as should active children and adults according to the NWS.
Counties affected in Illinois include Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Will and McHenry, in addition to Lake, Porter and La Porte counties in Indiana.
