Amazon Doubles Size Of Chicago Office, Plans To Add Employees

The company — which has said it plans to hire 2,000 new workers statewide — is making room for new corporate employees.

CHICAGO, IL — Amazon has expanded its office in Chicago, making room for additional employees at the corporate facility in the Loop. Earlier this year, the online retailer announced it plans to hire 2,000 additional full-time workers in Illinois over the next year or so. The company currently has nine fulfillment centers in Illinois, along with the Chicago corporate office, a bookstore in Lakeview, an AmazonFresh site and a University of Illinois-Chicago campus pickup center.

The company also said its expansion plans will bring its total number of Illinois employees to more than 7,000.

On Monday, the company said it has doubled the size of its Chicago office, which currently employees 200 people. The expansion will make room for another 200 staffers, the Chicago Tribune reported.
