CHICAGO — The Windy City will not be hosting the Democratic National Convention for a second consecutive presidential election cycle.
The Democratic National Committee announced Thursday that Boston, Denver and Philadelphia are the finalists to host the 2028 convention, eliminating Chicago from contention. The party announced the three finalists on its Facebook page Thursday morning.
Chicago had been seeking another turn as host after the 2024 Democratic National Convention brought delegates, national media, protests and heightened security to the city, with the main convention events held at the United Center.
The DNC has not publicly said why Chicago was eliminated. The final host city for the 2028 convention is expected to be selected later this year.
