Off-Duty Cop Shoots Pedestrian Twice, Fires At Group After Altercation: Chicago Police (patch.com) โ Residents on Chicago's Southwest Side are waking up to news that an off-duty police officer shot a man who allegedly struck him in the face, then fired additional shots toward a nearby group of pedestrians on West 24th Street. One man was hospitalized in fair condition and another suffered an arm injury, while the officer was also treated and placed on administrative duty as COPA investigates the shooting.

Man Charged With Killing 2 Young Women, 17 And 19, Now Accused Of Fatally Shooting 17-Year-Old Male: PD (patch.com) โ Chicago police say a 21-year-old man already charged in the killings of two young women is now also accused of fatally shooting a 17-year-old boy in 2025. Arrested on the Southwest Side by Chicago officers and U.S. Marshals, he faces a new first-degree murder charge as detectives continue piecing together the connected Chicago cases.

3. 2 Bronzeville restaurants damaged in overnight burglaries (nbcchicago.com) โ Two popular spots in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood, Bronzeville Soul and Peach's Restaurant, were damaged in overnight burglaries, leaving one temporarily closed for cleanup. Owners say everyone is safe, but Peach's expects to stay shut for several days while they repair damage, and police are being contacted for more information about other possible break-ins nearby.

4. 2 charged after man shot during robbery in Streeterville garage, stolen SUV crashes in Gresham: CPD (abc7chicago.com) โ A 64-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery in a Streeterville parking garage, and the same suspects allegedly carjacked an SUV that later crashed in Gresham, Chicago police said. A 22-year-old Chicago man and a 16-year-old boy face multiple felony charges, while the injured victim is expected to recover and both suspects are due in court Monday.

Rendezvous Arts Launches Season 7 With Expanded Ensemble and World Premiere (theradar.online) โ Rendezvous Arts is bringing an expanded 11-piece ensemble and a world-premiere composition to Artifact Events in Chicago on October 11, giving local audiences a chance to hear new music alongside Mozart- and Dvoลรกk-inspired favorites. The program also features visual artist Fred Draper, whose landscape-focused work will be showcased as part of this multi-sensory concert experience.
