Bears Hire Detroit OC Johnson As Next Head Coach: Report
Ben Johnson has served as the offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions since 2022.
CHICAGO — Ben Johnson will be the next head coach of the Chicago Bears, according to a Monday afternoon report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. Johnson, 38, has been the offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions since 2022. Detroit was eliminated from the NFL playoffs Saturday.
Schefter posted on social media that Chicago is finalizing a deal to hire Johnson, who has been coaching in the league since 2012. Johnson's offense in Detroit was the No. 1 ranked unit in the NFL this season.
Johnson will be the 19th coach in Chicago Bears history.
