Bears' Matt Nagy Denies Report He's Been Told He Won't Return
The fourth-year coach said he is truthful with the media and said that if people want to know about his future, they just need to ask him.

CHICAGO — Chicago Bears coach Matt Nagy considers himself to be an honest guy who will answer a question truthfully without avoiding the topic. Even when it comes to his job security heading into the final week of the NFL's regular season.
So, after another report surfaced on Wednesday morning that the Bears have already informed the fourth-year coach he will be fired after Sunday’s season finale against the Minnesota Vikings, Nagy denied it.
And rather than dodge the notion that Bears ownership has already informed him they plan to cut him loose after a losing season three years after Nagy was named picked up Coach of the Year honors, Nagy told reporters that anyone seeking information on his future just needs to ask him.

"I'm very honest and open with (the media) and that has not been told to me," Nagy told reporters on a Zoom call Wednesday. "There's going to be reports that come out probably at this time of the season. So anything that is said or reported by anybody is just that.
“I haven't been told anything. I'm a pretty good source to ask. So I think you're doing a good job asking me. I would say that anybody that has a report that is going to talk to somebody who talked to somebody who talked to somebody, it's probably best just to call me up and ask me. I promise you I'll tell you the truth. You know what I mean? I'm a pretty good source."

CBS Radio host and former NFL quarterback Boomer Eisason said on his radio show Wednesday that Nagy has been told he will be fired after the regular-season finale in Minnesota.
“He’s been told, he knows he’s not coming back,” Eisason said Wednesday morning. “That came to me through a tight and very good source.”
Nagy will take a 34-32 record into Sunday’s game against the Vikings but the Bears will not make the playoffs, which if Sunday does mark the end for Nagy means that he will have lost both of his postseason games during his tenure.
Bears chairman George McCaskey has denied previous reports about Nagy's job status in meetings with players, but has not spoken to the media in some time. After a disappointing season in which rookie quarterback Justin Fields has shown flashes of offensive brilliance, but has also dealt with injuries, there is wide speculation that Nagy —and possibly general manager Ryan Pace — will not be retained.
