Beloved Chicago Priest Rev. William Harold Sheridan Dies
Rev. Sheridan was a longtime priest at St. Philip Neri and served as the athletic director for Quigley Preparatory Seminary North.

CHICAGO, IL - Rev. William Harold Sheridan, a beloved Chicago priest known for his faculty role with Quigley Preparatory Seminary North and his years of service at St. Philip Neri on the city’s Southeast Side, has died.
Sheridan grew up on Chicago’s South Side, attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine School in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood and later Mount Carmel High School.
He went on to study at Quigley North and was ordained into the priesthood on May 5, 1954, according to an obituary.

Ever since, he was a mainstay in the Archdiocese of Chicago.
His first Solemn Mass was at St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish on May 9, 1954.

He served as Assistant Pastor of St. Bonaventure Parish in Chicago, taught and was the athletic director at Quigley North for years until retiring in 1995 and resided at St. Philip Neri.
“I can say without a doubt, the greatest blessing of my life has been the gift of priesthood,” he said in a 2011 interview with the Catholic New World.
Sheridan was 90.
