The nation's top airlines are issuing travel waivers ahead of a potential bomb cyclone weather system that could bring blizzard-like conditions and sub-zero temperatures to the greater Chicago area later this week. 2. Body pulled from Diversey Harbor ID'd as Peter Salvino, missing Northwestern PhD student. Shortly before 6:30 p.m. yesterday police pulled a body from the harbor. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed it was Salvino. The 25-year-old was last seen Saturday night leaving a party in the 2400-block of North Geneva Terrace in Lincoln Park. His phone last pinged near Diversey Harbor. (ABC 7)
3. Boy with autism a winner in Park District's 'Fastest Kid in the City' contest. Michael Norwood III said it felt great to take home first place in the Park District's second annual track competition. He and his parents hope his win inspires other kids. "To watch a kid with a disability like his, and still achieve greatness, it was pretty awesome. It was a great feat," his father said. More than 300 kids between the ages of 5 and 14 participated. 4. Off-duty CPD officer found dead in apparent suicide. The 35-year-old officer was found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound yesterday morning in a home on the West Side. She had been on the force for five years and had been working as a tactical officer in the 1st District downtown. More than a dozen Chicago police officers have taken their own lives since 2018. 5. Emails show how relationship between Bears, Chicago officials turned 'toxic' before Arlington Heights bid. As the Chicago Bears consider a move to Arlington Heights, Chicago officials have publicly lobbied the team to stay at Soldier Field, with Mayor Lori Lightfoot proposing renovation plans that included a dome, but internal communications show the relationship between the city and the franchise was already broken.
