Bomb Threat Made Against Columbia College's Registrar's Office

Police were searching floors of the school's South Michigan Avenue building Wednesday afternoon.

CHICAGO, IL — A bomb threat was called in Wednesday afternoon concerning the main building for Columbia College on Michigan Avenue, according to reports.

An alert sent out by the college said police K9 units and security were searching the fifth through seventh floors of the building at 600 S. Michigan Ave., after an "intoxicated caller" made a bomb threat to the Office of the Registrar. The alert told people to stay clear of those floors will the search was being conducted.

Students and other members of the Columbia community were sent emergency texts, emails and phone messages informing them about the threat.
