Officer Shoots Car In Grant Park During Large Gathering: Chicago Police
A car was driving toward the officer, who opened fire, hitting the sedan, police said.
CHICAGO — An officer fired at and struck a car that was driving toward police early Sunday morning during a large gathering in Grant Park, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. in the 300 block of East Balbo Drive, according to police, who said officers responded to a call about the gathering and deployed a tire deflation device upon arrival at the scene.
A car that was part of a group of speeding vehicles went around the device toward an officer and the officer opened fire, hitting the sedan, police said. No one was shot, according to police.

The officer was treated at a hospital for an ankle injury and released, police said, adding the driver of the car was placed into custody.
The incident is under investigation by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability and the officer will be put on routine administrative duties for at least 30 days, according to police.
