Burglars Employ Tree-Cutting Ruse; 2 Stolen Cars: Glenview Crimes

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity and includes both incidents reported by the public and arrests made by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident in the 4300 block of Westview Drive reported shortly after 9 a.m. on Jan. 31 that someone had come to their door and asked to go into the backyard to talk about cutting a tree. While in the yard, someone entered their house and stolen electronics and personal items worth a total of more than $3,000.

FORGERY
A customer at a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard reported before 6 p.m. on Jan. 31 that he discovered he received a fraudulent check of greater than $1,000 after selling a piece of artwork.

DISPUTE
An employee in the 100 block of Waukegan Road reported at 6:42 p.m. on Jan. 31 that someone was creating a disturbance by yelling and using profanities.

BATTERY
A resident in the 1700 block of Greenwood Road reported shortly before 4 p.m. on Feb. 1 that they had been punched in the face during an argument.

FORGERY
An employee in the 1800 block of Pickwick Avenue reported around noon on Feb. 2 that fraudulent checks worth $5,000 had been deposited against the company’s business account.

STOLEN CAR
A customer in the 4600 block of West Lake Avenue reported at 2:42 p.m. on Feb. 2 that their unlocked black 2008 Saturn was stolen from the parking lot after the keys had been left inside for a reported loss of $12,000.

STOLEN CAR
A resident in the 200 block of Mark Drive reported shortly 4 a.m. on Feb. 3 that their unlocked black 2006 Porsche had been stolen from a driveway during the previous night after the keys had been left inside. The reported loss was $12,000.

BURGLARY
A resident in the 1000 block of Burton Terrace reported at 6:47 p.m. on Feb. 4 that someone had entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway during the overnight hours and took a wallet and radar detector. The reported loss is $82.00.

ELECTRONIC HARASSMENT
An employee in the 1300 block of Shermer Road reported at 10:34 a.m. on Feb. 5 that they had received a scam e-mail demanding money or pornography would be sent to their friends. There is no loss.

BURGLARY
An employee in the 3700 block of Willow Road reported at 11:31 a.m. on Feb. 5 that someone had attempted to gain access to a business by breaking through the wall of an attached, unoccupied retail space, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage.

TELEPHONE HARASSMENT
An employee in the 1800 block of Tower Drive reported at 4:13 p.m. on Feb. 5 that someone had called asking them to come outside with a shovel.

BURGLARY
An employee in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported at 4:34 a.m. on Feb. 5 that someone had stolen a bag containing more than $1,000 in cash from the back seat of a car.


ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Santina Coley, 41, of the 2200 block of Harrison Street, Glenview, was arrested at 3:28 p.m. on Feb. 4 and charged with aggravated assault in the 2200 block of Harrison Street.

A 46-year-old Glenview woman was arrested at 3:39 a.m. on Jan. 30 and charged with driving on a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 0-100 block of East Lake Avenue.

Jerry Wagner, 58, of the 300 block of Lamon Avenue, Wilmette, was arrested at 1:17 p.m. on Jan. 29 and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give aid or information and driving without a valid license following an investigation into a Jan. 22 traffic crash in the 2000 block of Pfingsten Road.

A 28-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 10:17 a.m. on Jan. 30 and charged with driving on a suspended license and failure to yield while exiting a private drive following a traffic stop in the 600 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

Ted Ramos, 48, of the 600 block of Cobblestone Circle, Glenview, was arrested at 7:44 p.m. on Jan. 31 and charged with retail theft after staff of a store in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue witnessed him taking a phone case from a shelf and walking out without paying for it.
