Whether you’re a fan of traditional fillings like chicken, steak, chorizo, and beef or crave innovative creations, this festival has it all! Fourteen of Chicago’s finest eateries will compete to craft the city’s most mouthwatering tacos. This fest is a wildly popular fixture to the Windy City’s food scene. The Lakeview Taco Fest will be held Fri-Sun, August 21-23 at 3500 N. Southport Ave. between Addison and Roscoe. Visit from Fri 4-10 p.m.; Sat- 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. and Sun. 11 a.m. – 9 pm.
There are two music stages, crowd-pleasing Luche Libre Mexican wrestlers (5 p.m. daily at Southport &amp; Cornelia), activities for kids (inflatables and games), and visitors can text vote for “People’s Choice -Chicago’s “Best Taco.”. Plus, vendors compete for the esteemed “Critics Choice Best Taco" award on Saturday, which will be presented on the Luche Libre Stage at 4:45 p.m.

We are especially looking for Tenors and Basses, but singers of every voice part are welcome!
Voices of Hope is a caring community of singers who celebrate the joy of music while embracing hope, support, friendship, and connection for those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. No matter your level of experience, if our mission resonates with you, we invite you to be part of our chorus.
Fall rehearsals begin Thursday, August 27, as we prepare for concerts in mid-November.

Spirits Run Initiative NFP is bringing the Solidarity Sidekick Tour to the Chicago area as part of our mission to complete 102 community 5Ks across Illinois. This special event supports ALS awareness and celebrates the incredible journey of Enric Casacuberta, a runner from Spain who is currently running the entire Route 66—more than 2,400 miles—to raise awareness for ALS.
This untimed, family‑friendly 5K welcomes runners, walkers, and volunteers. Participants will enjoy a supportive community atmosphere while learning about Enric’s story and the importance of ALS advocacy. All proceeds benefit ALS awareness efforts.

Gold Coast Sounds Good Choir

Chicagoland's largest no-audition choral program for adults "55 and better" has nine choirs throughout Chicago and the suburbs, including the Gold Coast. Conducted by Jonathan Miller, the choir rehearses and performs at the beautiful, historic Fourth Presbyterian Church on Chicago's Magnificent Mile, 126 E. Chestnut Ave. Three sessions a year are offered -- two 15-week sessions in the fall and spring, and one 8-week session in the summer). All sessions include: a weekly 90-minute rehearsal with an additional (optional) online Friday rehearsal; guidance and instruction by professional conductors and accompanists; licensed sheet music; accessible rehearsal and performance venues; and free, public performances by each choir. Registered singers are also free to rehearse and perform with as many of the nine choirs as they wish for just one registration fee per session. Scholarships are readily available -- call the Sounds Good office at 630.395.9542 to apply. Sounds Good Choir also offers the only choir in Illinois for adults with early-stage dementia and their care partners. The Good Memories program is specifically designed to provide a safe, welcoming community in which to sing, socialize, and have fun.
