Chicago Airports, Roads Expected To Break Holiday Travel Records
The Chicago Department of Aviation said it's preparing for more than 5.2 million passengers over the holiday period.

CHICAGO, IL — O'Hare and Midway airports are expected to break travel records this holiday, according to the city of Chicago and AAA. The Chicago Department of Aviation said it's preparing for more than 5.2 million passengers over the next ten days. Record traffic is also expected to hit Chicago area roads and highways.
The busiest day of the holiday for Chicago airports will be Friday, with an estimated 225,000 passengers at O’Hare and 70,000 at Midway.
Road travel times are expected to peak between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Travel times could triple during those hours, AAA predicts.

More than 107 million Americans will take planes, trains, vehicles and other modes of transportation during the year-end holiday period from Dec. 23 through Jan. 1, according to the AAA forecast.
The 2017 holiday period is expected to have the highest year-end travel volume on record. AAA recommends drivers avoid peak times altogether or consider alternate routes.
